(Exodus, l. 52)His whole spirit is on the whole lavish of tragedy. His nobility, his oddness, his severe pickaxs, the actualisation of a foretold divination advance to support, the death of Iocaste, and the glary by his consume hand, all supply to the scheme of him macrocosm a sadal hero. He was born the son of a king, and lived his life king of two Corinth and Thebes creditworthy for the plurality of his land. His curiosity is his biggest flaw, because he furthertockst come out thoroughly decorous unaccompanied, and goes to prominent lengths to find out the truth. His choice to kill the man on the pass alternatively of just allow the foe go unyielding his fate. These factors alone do not lay out a tragic hero, but when brought together the way they do in Sophocles play, they eviscerate Oedipus a tragic hero.

The Change in account statement Estimat e would reckon sufficient to apply to this situation, but it will not work because a change in estimate cannot be employ retrospectively. Therefore, I have concluded that the high hat way to handle this issue is the Change in business relationship Estimate stirred by the Change in Accounting Principle approach. Police Administration - Essay ExampleSecondly, some(prenominal) of them emphasize on police-community relationship, whereby there is furiousness on communication through mutual understanding, change surface though such communication is practiced and projected on different levels in both programs. Thirdly, both programs deploy target hardening together with augmented community participation as part of their crime prevention initiative. This is evident through the assignment of unique(predicate) officers and patrol officers in conducting security surveys (McElvain, Kposowa, & Gray, 2013). The major difference between NYPD Crime Control Model and the Community policing is that, community policing initiative focuses more so on the three Rs of decentralized policing (McDonald, 2002). That is rapid reactions, random patrols, as well as reactive investigations. However, NYPD Crime Control Model focuses on the refined three Rs principles, and which entails directing police resources to modern crime-control strategies, rather than just observing the three Rs principles alone (McDonald, 2002). In other words, the NYPD Crime Control Model key mission and tariff of the police is to prevent crimes, while the key mission and responsibilities of police under community policing is to respond to crimes and which is pegged on numbers of arrests, clearance rates, in addition to response time. (McDonald, 2002). CompStat emphasizes on risk taking instead of risk adversity through an accountability-focused strategies and management principles. Community policing has feel-good collaborative frameworks through its watered-down departmental versions, as the objective is to diminish policing to just standard regulations and routines (Walsh & Vito, 2004). Thus, the community-relation specialists under community policing argon tasked in performing uncomplicated and repetitive functions, which requires no discretion. As such, the police role is to be fair play enforcers instead of also entailing crime prevention. In particular, success under community policing is measured by number of arrests made rather than the level and number of crimes existence committed (McDonald, 2002). However, the NYPD Crime Control Model acknowledges long-term service delivery with specific objectives, like decreasing drug sales by a received percentage of the in general crimes. Furthermore, the model focuses on attaining precise and timely intelligence, so as to direct resources and personnel to crime areas. Hence, the police officers, patrol officers and detectives are deployed more efficiently compared to community policing (McDonald, 2002). On the contrary, Community policing does not place a huge emphasis on crime data or even communication between principal law enforcers, but on qualification the public to feel that the police are existing. It is this difference that community policing is known for making police leaders together with their units to operate independently. A s a consequence, the patrols are not held liable for crimes within their geographic regions since investigations are conducted by specialized units separately, in order to attain their own individual objectives (McDonald, 2002). However, NYPD Crime Control Model ensures that patrols are held accountable for crimes in their region, and that, investigators and specialized units support them in patrol activities, so as to attain a common objective under an accountability framework. The assumption in community policing is that commanders are better able to conduct decisions solely, as they are filled with wisdom and creativity in fighting crimes compared to their line officers (McDonald, 2002).

Case Study ExampleIn Washington State in particular, tobacco and marijuana have continued to be most widely smoked by youth (Washington State Health Youth Survey, 2011). The share of those who smoked everyday decreased gradually between the geezerhood 2005 and 2010 from 17.5 percent to 11.0 percent (Centres for Disease Control and Prevention, 2010). This implied that many people had quit sess in this period while others had changed from smoking every day to smoking in some days only. The ability to purchase cigarettes is a product of individual income. Tobacco control advocates have seen an increase in the prices of tobacco resulting to a decline in smoking among the population (Shelly, 2010). Taxes are imposed on tobacco products increasing the price of tobacco and hence increase the cost of smoking. This reduces the smoking practice among no income or low-income adults as affordability of tobacco become quite hard (Chaloupka, Straif & Leon, 2011). This could be a reason for peop le to quit smoking or reduce the rate of smoking. Cigarette smoking among high school seniors declined by a quarter among male students and a half among female students between the age 2001 and 2011 (Centres for Disease Control and Prevention, 2012). The number of people who smoked some days in Washington, increase from 2.4 percent to 4.2 percent. Because smoking had become expensive between those years, some people may have reduced the frequence at which they smoked from every day to some days. The numbers increase implied that a number of every day smokers and non-smokers had begun to smoke on some days. The percentage of non-smokers in the state had gradually decreased from 29.9 to 25.5 percent between the years 1995 and 2010 (Centres for Disease Control and Prevention, 2010).

The Gulf of Tonkin incident - Essay ExampleThe mutual distrust of the allies against separately other resulted into great animosity and gave rise to contend tendencies. Ex Cuban incident, Berlin wall, military losses in Laos. It was becoming extremely important to re-establish Americas positi on on the world map. My school holds a high standard for the teachers as well for the students. Students are expected to behave, strive for excellence, respect others, have a good character, and be willing to learn, while the faculty is expected to do the same. Most charter schools do not require their teachers to be certified (Borsa 1999). However, my school requires all teachers K-fifth to hold a Teaching Credential and a know Degree and teachers 6th-12th are required to hold a Masters or Doctoral Degree in the area they teach. My school promotes a goodly life style, school uniforms, and parent involvement. Parents are required to pay one fee that covers all school material, lunches, schools uniforms, field trips, and other necessary items. The food at my school, which is free, and healthy, that actor no soft drinks, cookies, ejectdy, chips, or any other junk food al l birthdays at school will be celebrated without unhealthy food. Like the school uniform, backpacks will be in the color of the school uniform and have the students name on it. My school has no state standardized tests, solely the use of state standards. Instead students are required to test into each grade through a test that measures their cognitive and behavioral level. The complete cognitive test has twenty-seven essays and 2030 multiple choice/true-false questions, which is two essays and 140 or 150 questions per grade. The cognitive test measures what the student should know by the end of each grade. Students can challenge an exam if they feel the grade or class they are in doesnt reflect their abilities. In addition, students are required to take a test out exam in each subject. It serves as a measure for student learning, and an evaluation for teachers and parents. This exam is compared to the test in exam and creams for tutoring/after school help for struggling students. If student doesnt history higher than 80 percent on an exam, they wont be promoted to the next class or grade unless they successfully retake the exam. The exam can be retaken twice before the student must repeat a grade of class. My school doesnt use the Standard Letter Grade, but gives students the option for it. Instead of standard letter grades, students in K-5 will have a grade of caput (B- or higher in Standard Letter Grade) or No Pass (C+ or lower in Standard Letter Grade). Then 6- 12th grade students will have the option of keeping their grades in Pass/No Pass or having standard letter grades. (Students will be put on Academic Probation if their GPA reaches 2.99 or below.) Behavior, class participation, in-class work for students K-12 will be graded in O=Outstanding, E=Exceeds Expectations, A=Acceptable, P=Passing, N=Needs Improvement. Each week behavior and participation reports are sent home so parents can see how their students behavior and participation improves or becomes a problem. Teachers and parents go over the childs portfolio, which includes tests, papers, art, quizzes, and other in-class material each quarter. At the end of the year students evaluate their own work and others work in the portfolio. The student, the teacher, other students, and theparent grade the portfolio like pieces of art are evaluated at an art gallery. My school gives students the option of independent study or regular classroom learning in middle school and high school. All preschool through twelfth grade students are put in their cognitive level and in small classrooms of twenty students of less however, middle school and high school students have the option of regular class or packets. In regular class students participate in in-class assignments, quizzes, and tests students must earn provision and extra credit.Students must have at least 240 points out of 300 to pass each quarter otherwise the quarter will be iterate in packets. In a packets class or independent study students come to class participate and take in-class quizzes and tests however, class work is done in packets. Students must have an A- or higher to move on to the next packet. Packets are allowed to be taken home and are equivalent to one week of regular class in-class work only Physical Education, Speech, Science Lab, and Visual/Performing Arts are not allowed to be taken in packets. The packets are recommended for students who are ill, on religious holidays, etc., which prevent t hem from attending class. In addition, all students on holiday (December) have the option of completing packets for credit and completing quizzes and tests online with a proctor the packet requires an A- or better to move on. Overall, my school focuses on creating an emphasis on individual learning and respect for cultural diversity however, in that respect are intuitional and individual barriers. Intuitional barriers will arise when parents who arent secular will try to implement their beliefs into the curriculum, but this school offers a well-rounded approach to learning not faith-based learning. In addition, problems may arise when parents try to control what the child learns and what they become parents are encouraged to let their children be good at what they are good at. Small class sizes and indivualized learning can cause problems for students and parents who want a more mainstreamed education. Students may feel it is too hard for them, but this school is meant to be challe nging in academics, but not in socializing. Since there will be intuitional and individual barriers, parents and teachers are encouraged to be open and discuss any problems and look for what is in the best interest of the child. My belief is that education should offer students prepare students for life outside of education. I provided a school that offers students an extended school day and longer school year and summer school to keep kids out of trouble and respect religious beliefs. My school has meliorate students prepared for college and/or having a job as well as serving in the community. In addition, I provided a school that promotes a healthy life style, school uniforms, individual learning, good behavior, options in learning, and parent involvement. The goal of my school is to prepare and educate students to learn and be the best they can be in whatever they are good at. This charter school will create an emphasis on individual learning and respect for cultural diversity a nd more. Although this charter school will have intuitional and individual barriers, the school will provide more positive learning than a negative one.References Borsa, J., Ahmed, M., Perry, K. Creativity versus Intelligence Essay Example for Free

Creativity versus Intelligence EssayI bring in been accepted by a research company, a company I have been ambitioning to be a part of ever since I discovered that I have extreme interest for research and that I possess skills that altogether researchers have. My m another(prenominal) however has a bakeshop that I play a large role in without me, my mom will be having excruciating obstruction running the business al unmatchable. As soon as I received the letter stating that I have been accepted to the part-time research job I applied for I went to the company downtown and spoke to the one in charge of the Human Resources division. I have been told that if I have finally resolved to accept it, I should buy the farm for the contract to be signed. I left the research company and drove around town thinking of what I should do. As I was driving my mother called and told me to drop by at the bakeshop as soon as I can. When I arrived there a few minutes later she told me shell make an offer I could not refuse. She state she will promote me from being an assistant baker to be the head, a dream which I have been yearning to attain as well.Creative Thinking Strategy I left the bakeshop to think. I called my best friend and told her I would like to brainstorm with her with regards to my dilemma. I am aware that in brainstorming I should 1) suspend judgment or to make a final legal opinion or evaluation later 2) think freely or to include countless options even though they are ridiculous or seemingly out of the question to attain 3) tag on or to develop and adapt the ideas of other individuals and 4) come up with countless of ideas (Harris, 2002, n.p. ). This is what my best friend and I did First, I hang up judgment by considering twain accepting the job in the research company and taking the promotion in the bakeshop as excellent choices (Harris, 2002, n. p. ). This helps me vacate being biased on one over the other (Harris, 2002, n. p. ). This strategy pl ays a large role in balancing my options at least ab initio (Harris, 2002, n. p. ). Second, I engaged in thinking freely (Harris, 2002, n. p. ).This led me to come up with ridiculous options like maybe I should give up both opportunities and focus on my studies first maybe later I will have these views knock up my door once more and maybe I should just ask my mother to wait until I finish my contract with the research company (Harris, 2002, n. p. ). Third, I tagged on as well (Harris, 2002, n. p. ). I developed and adapted the idea of my best friend to just stay in the bakeshop since my mother needs me more than the research company (Harris, 2002, n. p. ).She said that I should be doing my responsibility first as a child before I attend to somebody elses (Harris, 2002, n. p. ). I took this seriously and opinion I should really pick this as the best option especially that it is our own business after all (Harris, 2002, n. p. ). The current generation, as well as, the deliver the goods generations will be the first ones to benefit from this if I just stay and help make it more successful (Harris, 2002, n. p. ). Finally, I listed down all the other options I have including taking both jobs and just go through everything successfully by employing time management and discipline (Harris, 2002, n.p. ). The Solution The option I have chosen is to accept the part-time job at the research company, as well as, the promotion at the bakeshop while attending college. I will do my best to carry out my responsibilities through time management as well as discipline. Reflection on the Difference surrounded by Intelligence and Creativity I corroborated that, indeed, time pressure quashes creativity because it limits peoples freedom to ponder different options and directions (Murray, 2002, p. 24).If the company obliged me to return there to sign the contract ASAP or if my mom pressured into deciding ASAP, I would not have thought clearly, I would not have gotten the chance to evaluate all the possible options that I have and would not get to pick the best alternative as well (Murray, 2002, p. 24). This also made me realize the difference between intelligence and creativity. Intelligence may be innate, it may be there when you need it it may also be acquired through a good education. Intelligence is stored and may just be retrieved if necessary.Creativity on the hand may also be innate and may also be acquired but it is different in such a way that unlike intelligence it cannot just be retrieved and utilized. There are other factors to consider for exemplar time pressure, this may get in the way of creativity (Ordonez et. al. , 1997, pp. 121 140). One may be intelligent but one cannot be too creative especially if he or she is under time pressure in fact it has been concluded in a certain study that if one is crunched the less likely he or she will be able to solve a tricky problem (Murray, 2002, p.24). An Inspector Calls Play Essay Example for Free

An Inspector Calls Play EssayAn Inspector Calls has been called a find of contrasts. Write about how Priestley presents close to of the contrasts in the play. In the play there be wide differences in not only the treatment of Sheila Birling and Eva Smith but also large contrasts in the misfires themselves- with Eva being a poor uncared for girl and Sheila being a privileged upper-middle class girl. This not only separates them as they would be unable to fully empathise with each other as they dumbfound widely contrasting lives. This is shown as Mr Birling says but I see no point in mentioning the subject especially -(indicating Sheila.) The quote paired with the peg direction highlights Mr Birlings attempts to prevent Sheila from being exposed to the situation. This is done as they feel that Sheila should be protected from merely hearing the awful situations that some girls have to endure. This concern is in contrast with how they view Eva Smith as both parents have minim al concern for the fact that they are partly responsible for(p) for Eva having to live on the streets.Theres goose egg I can tell him. I told the girl to clear out, and she went. The use of nothing indicates how Mr Birling views the situation of Eva, as if it was nothing that he was at fault for Eva being on the streets and out of a job- a contrast to the sheltered life he creates for Sheila. At both ends of the play there is contrast in the language used by Inspector and Birling in their speeches. The early speech by Mr Birling is one with a much happier and self-supporting view of society compared to the later one by the Inspector which holds a tone of finality and encompasses the idea of being responsible for everyone most you. Both speeches talk of the responsibility we have however where the Inspector talks of responsibility for all- We dont live alone. Mr Birling means to say that we are responsible for ourselves and no more- . We employers at last are coming together to see that our inte counterpoises These speeches indicate the attitudes held by the speaker clearly, with Mr Birling showing concern for we employers highlights the socialist view held by Mr Birling as he views they employers as one while entity that need to protect and look after each other with minimal concern for the rest of society.
